Keywords 'should be singular for good search engine optimisation'

When writing search engine optimisation (SEO) copy, keywords should be singular rather than plural, it has been asserted.
Blogging for Econsultancy, Jaamit Durrani explained that consumers often look for one item, "not a boatload".
He explained: "A quick bit of keyword research shows that search traffic for 'digital SLR camera' is almost double that of 'digital SLR cameras'. This applies to the majority of purchase intent category keywords that I have come across."
The expert also advised SEO professions to update their webpages as often as possible, explaining that a range of different types of content could keep things interesting and relevant.
Blogs and reviews should all be refreshed regularly and categorised appropriately, he said.
Meanwhile, landing pages and static copy may also need to be updated habitually so that the information is kept fresh for users.
When devising an SEO campaign, Mr Durrani also pointed out that multiple categorisation should be a consideration.
However, there are pitfalls to putting content too deep into a site, including inadvertently creating duplicate content which is a "no-no for SEO".
Last month, online marketing director at Vitabits.co.uk Sam Tilston advised against stuffing headlines with too many keywords, explaining this could have an adverse effect on SEO campaigns.
