Social media to be 'online marketing winner'

Social media features look set to be a major part of the online marketing strategies employed by E-Commerce firms over the coming year.
That is according to data published in the Adobe Scene7 survey, which quizzed online retailers on the ways in which they intend to enhance customer experiences in 2009.
Some 32 per cent said that they will use blogs, while 31 per cent are preparing to introduce rankings, comments and user ratings.
Live videos and podcasts look set to become more popular, with 28 per cent saying they would implement the technology in a bid to attract visitors.
"Web marketing continues to be an area of investment and innovation because in challenging economic times it can deliver high-impact marketing programs that can be easily and immediately measured," was the assessment of Doug Mack, Adobe's vice-president of consumer and hosted solutions.
"Over 90 per cent of our survey's respondents are planning to invest in new rich media and social networking technologies to ensure their brands and products stand out on the web."
